BBI: Deripaska again among 500 richest people in world

MOSCOW, Mar 1 (PRIME) -- Businessman Oleg Deripaska added U.S. $1.07 billion to his fortune in January–February to return to the world’s top 500 richest people rating, while the combined fortune of Russia’s billionaires increased by U.S. $19.31 billion in the period, Bloomberg said on Friday in a report accompanying its Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).

The index is calculated basing on capitalization and financial reports of companies owned by the businessmen, or on a ratio between capitalization and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) or a ratio between a share price and earnings per share.

Vladimir Potanin, one of the core owners of metals giant Norilsk Nickel, was number one among the richest Russians with $21.3 billion, an increase of $1.63 billion.

CEO of independent gas producer Novatek Leonid Mikhelson occupied the second position with a $19.9 billion wealth, which has grown by $496 million since the beginning of the year.

Vladimir Lisin, the major beneficiary of steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), remained at the third place, and his wealth rose by $1.44 billion to $19.3 billion.
